French Fridays with Dorie - creme brulee

Our evening started with these (yep, Dorie's gougeres).

And ended with this (yep, Dorie's creme brulee).

In between was Dorie's go to beef daube.  It was a great meal.  Except one of the creme brulees did not set and I need a new torch (the reason for the very sorry "brulee" on my creme brulee).  Other than that...yummy!

I don't have much to say this week.  We in the Irey household are enjoying the holidays stress free this year as our Altadena house closed on Dec. 15th (finally, after a long, extremely painful (not kidding here) escrow).  May your holidays be stress free and filled with love and light and happiness.  Yep, that's about all I've got.  Maybe my fellow Doristas have more to say this week.
PS...for those who noticed...I too think it's wierd that both photos are green and yellow!

Looks like a lovely dinner. NONE of my brûlées in the correct dishes (that I have used before with much success) set. NONE. Very disappointed in this though I guess 60/61 successes in FFWD so far is a pretty good go of Dorie recipes.. This is a weird recipe compared to many other ones I have tried (low heat, no water bath).

Anyway, it's been lovely cooking and baking along with you this year - here's to many more adventures in the kitchen in 2012. peace and happiness over the holidays Steph!

Your menu sounds delicious! I LOVE gougeres but have yet to try Dorie's. Still a few more recipes to check off the list in 2012.

Happy Holidays and congrats on closing your house.

Love that you managed a whole "Dorie Meal"- this year has been progressing to more and more last minute barely getting the single recipes done for me :) I tease that we started out making the salted butter breakups (remember those ??) while standing at the kitchen island and eating them...and that has become the new Dorie taste test ritual. I am looking forward to getting organized and leaving more comments too in 2012. Nana and I have enjoyed meeting you via FFWD and wish you and your family a wonderful (one house :) holiday season !!!

Forget the rest of it--I could just eat a batch of her gougeres. They're one of my favorite things in the world. Sounds like a wonderful meal, all around!

Happy for you that you're enjoying a stress free holiday (with great food to boot). So did you tell Santa about a new torch? ;)

You make me want to make gougeres and the beef daube again! Your meal sounds wonderful and the creme brulees were the perfect end to your meal. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas!
